22 March 2010
This year World Water Day is dedicated to the theme of water quality:
to raise awareness about water quality challenges in water management; and to raise the profile of water quality by encouraging governments, organizations, communities, and individuals to engage in addressing water quality (e.g. pollution prevention, clean up and restoration). The United Nations Environment Programme is coordinating this year's World Water Day activities globally. WHO will be highlighting the importance of water quality and health in three main areas:
drinking-water quality; safe use of wastewater in agriculture and aquaculture; safe recreational waters.
